Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Two Rivers Bookstore & Weird Sisters opened in our shared location in 2019 with the central mission of building community around books and fiber arts. We support that mission by providing an inclusive, positive environment that celebrates the diverse range of people in our community. In and outside the shop, online and in-person, all are welcome in our spaces regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, physical appearance, ability, or religion. We’re committed to modeling diversity and inclusion for both the fiber arts and literary communities and consider this when selecting our suppliers, teachers, and employees. We seek out brands and publishers that practice these values, and support local BIPOC makers, suppliers, artists, writers, and organizations. We promote and support a quarterly community partner or non-profit, and focus on organizations supporting historically underserved communities here in North Portland. Two Rivers Bookstore & Weird Sisters have a zero-tolerance policy in our spaces for racism, hate speech, abelism, discrimination, and bullying of any kind. If you are a BIPOC writer, maker, fiber artist, or dyer interested in collaborating with us on a project or event, please reach out to us via the form below.
